One of the differences between companies like NEC and Sony is that while both have Crusoe-based notebooks on the market, Sony generally charge extra for the accessories most of us consider basic. The NEC UltraLite we reviewed earlier this year came with USB floppy drive and CD-ROM. The Sony VAIO C1MV comes with neither, and in fact charges $250 for the CDROM and a $80 for the floppy - Ouch!

Optional C1MV Accessories:

-- External 8X max. DVD-ROM drive $400
-- External 8X4X24X max. CD-RW drive $500
-- Additional external 24X CD-ROM drive $250
-- Additional lithium-ion battery $150
-- Double-capacity lithium-ion battery $500
-- USB floppy drive (PCGA-UFD5) $80
