ADI Microscan E66 19inch Monitor Review

Having a computer screen which is easy to read and not too hard on the eyes is important. A 17" monitor is the bare minimum, 19" is the average, and 21" is a great if you can afford it...

The Little Details

The most difficult part of setting up this monitor is getting it out of the box. Large monitors like the E66 weigh in at around 50lbs and are also very bulky. Tipping the box over, we remove the box from the monitor. Styrofoam and the plastic bag come off last, after we attach the base, which quickly snaps into place on the base of the screen. The base not only supports the screen but allows us to swivel and adjust the orientation to suite.

We were able to bring our settings up to 1600x1200 with our Diamond Stealth III S540 (cheapy) video card. At that resolution the image was still perfectly clear, but the video card was operating at 60-70Hz which was a bit noticeable.

The monitor operates over a very broad range of preset resolutions and frequencies, which are listed below:

Resolution Freq Hor. Freq Ver. Standard
640X480 31.5kHz 60Hz VESA
720x400 31.5kHz 70Hz VGA
640x350 31.5kHz 70Hz VGA

1280x1024 91.1kHz 85Hz VESA

What kind of onscreen controls does the ADI E66 have and how easy is it to adjust?
